Health Care Reform: Good for Patients, Good for Workers, Good for Women

Health Care Reform: Good for Patients, Good for Workers, Good for Women
By Amanda Marcotte, RH Reality Check
Health care reform would give us the opportunity to create jobs that pay us back tenfold. Read more »

Health care isn't just about health. It's an issue that runs through all others, whether it's the economy, the environment, foreign policy or reproductive justice. And, as Amanda Marcotte shows in this week's top Health & Wellness story, tackling health care reform would simultaneously help us tackle other problems. Besides providing some long overdue relief for the 46+ million people without health insurance, reforming the system would create demand for labor -- jobs that both men and women could fill. The government could even take an extra step in helping more women move into health careers like nursing by setting up 24-hour daycare centers similar to those created during World War II.

Also in this issue of Health & Wellness, we take a look at the correlation between age and happiness, let readers sound off about America's broken health care system and hear about HIV from a man living with the diagnosis. Stay tuned next week for more great content, including a guest post from Niko Karvounis at Health Beat on whether the media will derail health care reform.

As always, thanks for reading,
