Backups key VMI win over Bucs

With their top two players sitting on the bench in sweats, the VMI Keydets proved that their success this season is due more to the system they run, rather than the players who run it. Sophomore Hunter Houston, playing in his first game of the season, scored 18 points â€" including five 3-pointers â€" and sophomore guard Austin Kenon scored 26 points to lift the Big South Conference-leading Keydets to a 93-90 win over Charleston Southern at CSU Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Gamecocks coast past Terriers

COLUMBIA â€" Devan Downey scored 17 points to lead South Carolina in a 78-61 win against Wofford on Monday night. Brandis Raley-Ross added 14 points and Mike Holmes and Austin Steed chipped in with 10 apiece for the Gamecocks (11-2), who won their last non-conference game before beginning Southeastern Conference play against Auburn on Jan. 10.
