People's Choice Fashion Gold, platforms and a wide mix of styles (tuxes! florals! structured!) came down the People's Choice Awards red carpet. Kate Hudson opted for a slit teal Gucci gown that fit her boho image, while Katherine Heigl traded her usual glam gowns for a Dolce & Gabbana tux. Debra Messing took a bold fashion risk on a structural Donna Karan dress (her nude suede and snakeskin platforms are amazing). I really love all of the nude shoes being worn -- with a gray dress on Debra, with a red dress on Marisa Tomei because they are a wonderful leg lengthener.
Red Carpet Watch: Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson The "Bride Wars" girls may be dressed in bride-and-groom outfits to promote the movie, but Anne Hathaway's sleek tux and Kate Hudson's geometric mermaid gown are also part of two trends to watch. The strapless geometric gown from Oscar de la Renta -- on Hudson -- is part of a fashion direction that encompasses everything from color-blocking to graphic prints. Hathaway's tux -- especially the jacket -- is part of the borrow-from-him trend that includes baggy jeans and boyfriend jackets (Recession Bonus: Raid his closet instead of shopping!). Both directions are the antithesis of girlie chic -- ruffles, feathers and frou -- that has dominated the runway for many seasons.
