Attention holiday shoppers! Did you know that marathon gift-buying can take its toll on more than just your wallet? Prep yourself for your seasonal spending spree and power shop the right way by following a bit of advice from HealthGal nutritionist Amy Hendel. To keep up your energy and your holiday spirit:
Start the day with a healthy breakfast.
Take along: Water and high-protein/carbohydrate snacks, like cereal and nuts, yogurt and berries, string cheese and fruit, a whole-grain English muffin and nut butter, or a 200-calorie nutrition bar like Balance Trail.
Eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours so you keep your energy up, but commit to a lot of brisk walking in between stores.
Then drop off your packages and take a brisk 20- to 30-minute walk around the mall parking lot before heading home.
