Timberland trio keys to Wolves' phenomenal year

South Carolina high school football news travels fast â€" even to Kansas. Timberland coach Art Craig is visiting the Sunflower State for the holidays and found out some of his top players earned postseason honors. "I just saw three of our players were named to the (Associated Press) all-state team," Craig said. "That's pretty impressive. I don't think that will ever happen again at Timberland High School. I hope it does, but it probably won't while I'm a coach."

Staley to join staff at USC

COLUMBIA â€" Steve Spurrier and South Carolina have been working for the past few weeks to find a place on the staff for former USC and NFL running back Duce Staley, The Post and Courier has learned. It isn't yet clear what capacity Staley would hold, but he is expected to join the staff just after the first of the year.

'Giving hope ... that's what means the most'

BISHOPVILLE â€" Most people are excited this week for a break. A break from work. A break from school. A break from whatever's made life mundane or cumbersome. Bayler Teal is excited for a break this week, too. Teal, who turned 6 on Wednesday, has a week off from chemotherapy.
