Hello, everyone,

We are now less than a month away from the end of George W. Bush’s two-term presidency. A lot has happened in that time, including the 9/11 attacks, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the global economic meltdown, just to mention a few. During the past eight years, one person has been a consistent player within Mr. Bush’s administration, Condoleezza Rice. Correspondent Rita Braver sits down with the Secretary of State to discuss the state of the world, her place in history, and some of Ms. Rice’s personal joys, such as playing the piano.

Pianist Michael Feinstein is doing his part to preserve the nation’s history in song. He is compiling music from the 1930s to the 1960s, all part of the American songbook, which he hopes to keep alive for generations to come. He’ll be ringing in the New Year with correspondent Russ Mitchell, singing some of those old favorites.

We’ll be saluting some old favorites as well. Charles Osgood will give a hearty “Hail and Farewell” to the people we lost this year who touched our lives in so many different ways.

Nancy Giles and Mo Rocca will be stopping by to share their thoughts on New Year’s resolutions, and Bill Geist will take to the heavens to introduce us to some folks who have given new meaning to the term “high dining.”

All that and more, this Sunday Morning. Listen for our trumpet!
