Sometimes, though, it's only polite to stay home. For example, yesterday I brought my cold to work for show and tell, and no one was excited about it.   In the Spotlight When Should I Call in Sick? If it's really serious and you're sneezing all over the place, you might want to stay home for the comfort of others. Some ailments are easier calls. Pink eye, for example.
