Suspect held in Ga. jail

The man accused of robbing a Summerville bank earlier this week is sitting in a jail outside Atlanta, but it could be a while before he's back in the Lowcountry. Deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office caught Douglas in a Decatur, Ga., motel with a female friend about 4:15 Saturday morning.

Obama focus of evening

While high quality public education was the theme for the annual gathering of Lowcountry civil rights leaders, a historic moment dominated the evening: the first black presidential candidate just days away from Election Day. U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was the keynote speaker Saturday night for the 92nd annual Freedom Fund Banquet of the Charleston Branch of the NAACP.

Laurel Hill parent not your average volunteer

Some parents volunteer in their children's schools by watching kids at lunch time, making copies or working with small groups of children. E.C. Setser has done all those and then some. "It is a full-time job."
