| With the electoral map looking increasingly like the 2008 election is Obama's to lose, the McCain camp, not surprisingly, is going through the usual recriminations. The Guardian reports that morale has tanked among campaign staffers ... Staff at his headquarters, in Arlington, Virginia, are already speaking about his campaign in the past tense and some, with hopes of a White House job diminishing, have sent out job resumes. Mark McKinnon, who had been a key member of McCain's team during the nomination battles but then left, told the Politico website: "If you really want to see what 'going negative' is in politics, just watch the back-stabbing and blame game that we're starting to see." Of course, the race isn't over until it's over, and given that Democrats smelled victory in both 2000 and 2004, the Obama camp is reportedly taking nothing for granted. | |
