USC's Garcia, Smelley tag-team Razorbacks

COLUMBIA â€" South Carolina got stuck on six wins a year ago. The Gamecocks, with some vintage quirky coaching by Steve Spurrier, appeared bent on keeping it from happening again.

Two QBs are better than none

COLUMBIA â€" Leave it to Steve Spurrier to give a whole new meaning to the term quarterback rotation. Against Arkansas on Saturday, the South Carolina coach switched QBs on almost every single play in a game the Gamecocks won, 34-21. Although sophomore Chris Smelley officially started the game for USC, Stephen Garcia, a redshirt freshman, came in on the second play and every other play after that.

Johnson hopes to shake Edwards' title pursuit

AVONDALE, Ariz. â€" Carl Edwards chipped into Jimmie Johnson's points lead with consecutive victories at Atlanta and Texas. Now the championship race has moved into the desert, where Johnson has traditionally turned up the heat on the competition.

Culliver meltdown will cost USC next week

COLUMBIA â€" With Saturday's game against Arkansas in hand, South Carolina safety Chris Culliver might have hurt the Gamecocks for their test this week at Florida.

Tigers' hopes continue to evaporate with loss

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. â€" It felt a lot like the good old days for Florida State on Saturday night. The No. 24 Seminoles looked dominant in dusting an ACC rival, and thereafter good vibes were all around as they sang happy birthday to their coach, 79-year-old Bobby Bowden.
