Barack Obama's election was an historical event and 60 Minutes was there in its unique way. Our first story has Steve Kroft talking to the four people most responsible for guiding Obama’s spectacular political rise as they celebrate their achievement at his Chicago headquarters on election night. Political advisors David Axelrod and Anita Dunn, campaign manager David Plouffe and press secretary Robert Gibbs outline their strategies that broke the traditional political campaign mold and propelled the first African American into the White House.

Have you ever thought about where the computer screen you are reading this on winds up when it’s discarded? You’ll find out in our second story in which Scott Pelley investigates "e-waste" – junked computers, televisions and other old electronic products that contain valuable components, including gold. But those valuables are not easy to get at and doing so can result in the release of dangerous toxins like lead, cadmium and mercury. So it often gets shipped illegally overseas to a toxic dump, like the one Pelley and his crew had to run out of after angry men threatened them and tried to take their cameras. "They're afraid of being found out. This is smuggling. This is illegal," says Jim Puckett, founder of the Basel Action Network, a group working to stop the dumping of toxic materials in poor countries.

In our third story, Morley Safer goes out on the range to visit the media mogul cum landowner Ted Turner as he turns 70 and looks back at a remarkable life. On his Snowcrest ranch – just one of the many properties he owns that comprise two million acres – Turner can ride horses and fish and reflect on the big deals, sports triumphs and controversies that have marked his life. But one thing America’s largest private landowner doesn’t like to think about is being alone on one of his spreads. "I'll tell you, come out here and spend the night by yourself some time…the coyote's out there howling. It's pretty scary," he tells Safer.

Those stories, and Andy Rooney’s political history lesson, on this Sunday’s 60 Minutes, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
