My nephew is destined to be a world traveler. At only four months old, he's already taken his first plane flight. "The worst part of it is the dirty looks you get from everyone else," my sister said. "It's like you're walking through the airport with a bag of screaming cats."

Air Travel Tips for Flying With Your Family
When we were kids, my sister and I traveled with a portable toy store. We each had a basket full of crayons, favorite dolls, and travel-size games. To this day, all she needs to do to chill my blood is call out Battleship coordinates.

Can You Give Kids Allergy Medicine to Calm Them on Flights?
My nephew is a pretty cheerful little guy. Still, with kids that age, you never can tell when the good humor will wear off. I suggested - totally kidding! - that my sister consider sedating him on the plane ride. Let's just say, I probably won't be called up on to babysit in the near future.

How to Survive Long Car Trips With Kids
To be honest, my folks never really had to worry about keeping me entertained on car trips. My super power has always been the ability to fall asleep as soon as I get into a moving vehicle. (Don't worry: Not while I'm driving.)

World Future / News - Bionic 'sex chip' that stimulates pleasure centre in brain developed by scientists

Scientists are developing an electronic 'sex chip' that works by stimulating the pleasure centres in the brain.

The technology, which creates tiny shocks deep in the brain, has already been used in America to treat Parkinson's disease.

Now researchers are focusing on the orbitofrontal cortex, which is associated with feelings of pleasure caused by eating and sex.

The chip could stimulate the orbitofrontal cortex, which is associated with the pleasure felt when eating and having sex

A research survey conducted by Morten Kringelbach, a fellow at Oxford University, found the orbitofrontal cortex could be a 'new stimulation target' to help people with anhedonia - an inability to experience pleasure from such activities.

His colleague Professor Tipu Aziz said: 'There is evidence that this chip will work.

'A few years ago a scientist implanted such a device into the brain of a woman with a low sex drive and turned her into a very sexually active woman. She didn't like the sudden change, so the wiring in her head was removed.'

But Professor Aziz said the present surgery needed to implant the wire in the brain was 'intrusive and crude' and would need about 10 years worth of development.

'When the technology is improved, we can use deep brain stimulation in many new areas. It will be more subtle, with more control over the power so you may be able to turn the chip on and off when needed.'

An electronic machine that creates sexual feelings is already being developed in America by Dr Stuart Meloy. He calls his device, which is a modified spinal cord stimulator, the Orgasmatron. The name is taken from the 1973 Woody Allen film Sleeper.

World Future / News - Robbie Williams jets back to the UK as his mother undergoes heart bypass By Tamara Hardingham-gill

Anxious Robbie Williams has dashed backed to Britain to be at his mother's side after she underwent a major heart operation.

The 34-year-old is said to be worried sick about 67-year-old Jan after she was admitted into hospital for heart bypass surgery.

Jan, a drink and drugs counsellor, was said to be in a 'critical but stable' condition last night following surgery.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS AND HIS MOTHER JAN

Robbie Williams's mother Jan, pictured with him in 2001, is in hospital after undergoing heart bypass surgery

Wlliams, who enjoys an extremely close relationship with his mother,  won't be able to visit her until she leaves intensive care — but the singer is thought to be spending Christmas Day in hospital with her as she begins her recuperation.

Jan was admitted to a private hospital in Cheshire last weekend and if thought to have had the operation yesterday morning after her son flew home to support her.

'Like any patient who has undergone major heart surgery, Jan's not out of the woods yet,' a source is quoted as telling The Sun.

'She is in a critical but stable condition, but that's normal for such a complex procedure.

Williams currently lives in Los Angeles with his girlfriend Ayda Field.

Jan brought him up alone after his father Peter Conway walked out when he was just two.

'Robbie is desperate to make sure everything goes exactly to plan.'

'But any major surgery carries risks and Robbie will be understandably concerned for his mum.

'It won't be an easy Christmas for him,' the source added.

She was party responsible for her son's rise to fame after spotting an advert for auditions for Take That, the band that launched his career.

Heyday: The Band burst onto the British music scene in 1990s

Heyday: Mark Owen, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Robbie Williams in the early 1990s

Williams has often spoken of his dedication to Jan and credits her for helping him to battle his addictions to drink and drugs.

'My mum is the pillar of strength that has kept me sane throughout my mad life', he said in 1998

'She's the most important woman in my life and always will be.'

Williams song One Of God's Better People from his debut solo album Life Thru A Lens was inspired by Jan and contains the lyrics:

'You're one of God's better people,

    And you don't know,

    That's why you're special,

It must hurt to see your favourite man,

    Lose himself again and again,

And I know that you're my only friend,

    From way back when,'

Earlier this month Williams hinted that he may rejoin the group that launched his career after the five men finally settled their differences.

World Future / News - Steps singer Claire Richards recovers her pop star figure by losing FIVE STONE making new fitness DVD

During her years in Steps, Claire Richards gained the attention of male fans with her big smile, powerful voice and slimline physique.

But after her music career went downhill and she had a baby son Charlie, the 31-year-old singer soon started piling on the pounds, ballooning to 15 stone.

Without Steps' energetic dance moves to help keep her in shape, Claire ended up gaining five stone, making her look unrecognisable from her old pop persona.

After the weight has gone: Claire Richards shows off her slimline physique after losing five stone

After being pictured in the media five dress sizes bigger in May this year, Claire decided to take control and regain her former figure.

The singer has teamed up with fitness expert Chris to share the secrets of her success.

In her fitness DVD, entitled 5 Step Fat Attack, Claire shows off a combination of aerobics and toning exercises to help drop the pounds.

As you would expect, Claire shows off her moves to a soundtrack of Steps' greatest hits.

Among the songs Claire works out to include Tragedy, After The Love Has Gone, Deeper Shade Of Blue and 5,6,7,8.

She explained: 'After leaving Steps, the regular dance routines and constantly being on the go came to an end and I started to gain weight.

'I tried all sorts of methods to shape up including fad diets and failed gym memberships. That's why I got together with my trainer Chris and created the 5 Step Fat Attack.

'I'm fit and in shape and I want to share how I stepped my way back to fitness.

'We've put together a great workout which enables you to lose weight and have fun.

'Last year I looked in the mirror and at 15 stones I didn't recognise myself, it was a far cry from my days in Steps when I was a size 10.

Dropping dress sizes: Claire looked more like her old self at the TV Choice Awards in September (L) after previously stunning fans with her portly physique at the Take That musical back in May (R)

'Like most women, changes in my life led to me putting weight on and before I knew it I looked like another person in a fat suit, and I knew things had to change.'

Claire is currently working on her debut solo album, due for release in 2009, after a few years out of the spotlight.

Claire sang many of the lead vocals in Steps during her five years with the pop group before they split on Boxing Day 2001.

She went on to form a duo with Steps bandmate Ian 'H' Watkins, but they disbanded after 2003 after two years together.

Claire married her first husband, Steps dancer Mark Webb in 2003, but they split in 2005.

In May 2007, Claire gave birth to her first child Charlie and married his father Reece Hill last month.
