Cynthia Nellis   from Cynthia Nellis

You now know what's essential and what's hot. Now it's time to kick up your DIY makeover a notch and customize a new look that's right for you.

Before you can really decide what flatters your figure, you'll need an honest assessment of your figure flaws (too busty, big hips, etc.) and a realistic sense of what you hope to accomplish (look taller, dress sexier, appear younger).

The best way to get a sense of your overall shape is to stand in front of a full-length mirror and squint: you can see an outline of your body that way.

What do you see?

A body that is narrower through the shoulders and fuller through the hips is usually called a pear or bottom-heavy shape.

A body that is wider through the shoulders, tapering down to narrower hips can either be top-heavy or athletic depending on how physically fit you are.

A body that is almost equally full through the shoulders and hips with a smaller waist is called an hourglass figure.

Of course there are even many variations within these general figure types: long torso, short waisted, tall, petite, etc. And you'll need to know about every problem you may face on the road to looking better in your clothes.

Most of us assess our bodies only in terms of our weight (heavy, on-target or slim) and forget all of the beautiful variations that we can show off and conceal using fashion techniques.

So take some time to really assess what your shape is about.

A patriot's return

John Almeida grew up idolizing an uncle he never met. Marion Ryan McCown was a pilot, a Golden Gloves boxer and a sailor â€" a true Lowcountry prince of tides. All his life, Almeida was inspired by the family stories of his mother's brother, including the one that had no ending. There were the tales of young adventure when McCown was a Boy Scout exploring the South Carolina salt marshes; his time as a student as Georgia Tech in Atlanta; the time he got his pilot's license.

When season ends, the questions begin

He has stood on the Summerville sideline for what seems forever. He has won more games than anyone else. He's old, 82. Every year could be his last. But John McKissick knows â€" there's no place he'd rather be. This is the last of an eight-part series. Previously: Times change, and so do the players. Summerville wrapped up its regular season.

Program collects 242 guns

Bob Rousseau loaded six old guns into his car Saturday morning and dropped them off at North Charleston's first gun "buyback" at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. He had been storing his father's old guns in a locked closet for a long time. But, he said, "I've been feeling unsafe with them around the house." He had thought about taking them to a pawn shop but suspected the guns might end up in the hands of a criminal. He was relieved to finally have a safe place to get rid of them.

Owner moving ahead on landfill proposal

ADAMS RUN â€" Wilbur Jones spent much of his childhood hunting in the woods in southwestern Charleston County. Jones, now in his 60s, is one of many residents and landowners in the rural community off U.S. Highway 17 near Parkers Ferry Road fighting to stop a private company from building a landfill for construction waste in the area. He wants to protect the fragile, low-lying environment for future generations.

Enforcement blitz begins for holidays

Police kicked off their traffic-enforcement blitz for the holiday season with a grim comparison: murders and drunken driving fatalities. An average of 315 people are slain in South Carolina every year. But an average of 422 will die annually in alcohol-related crashes.

Oklahoma QB Bradford edges McCoy, Tebow for Heisman

NEW YORK â€" Sam Bradford's biggest score: the Heisman Trophy. Oklahoma's amazingly accurate and quick-thinking quarterback won the Heisman on Saturday night after guiding the highest-scoring team in major college football history to the national championship game. A year after Tim Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman, Bradford became the second and kept the Florida QB from joining Archie Griffin as the only two-time winners.

S.C. State no problem for Tigers

CLEMSON â€" Oliver Purnell's continually ascending Clemson basketball program is doing the things necessary to appear in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight March. Tim Carter's upstart South Carolina State Bulldogs might get there, too. But their path is longer and requires heavier coats. Clemson improved to 10-0 Saturday with a 90-63 victory before a crowd of 5,927 at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Seeking perfect home mark, hot Panthers battle Broncos

CHARLOTTE â€" The game was moved to the coveted Sunday night spot. It could determine the No. 1 seed, home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, and if the Carolina Panthers really deserve to be considered one of NFL's elite teams. Trouble is, that game isn't until next weekend. Before the Panthers (10-3) visit the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, they must first face the Denver Broncos (8-5) today (4:15 p.m., WCSC-TV), a tricky game six days after Monday's emotional win over top rival Tampa Bay.

DNR increases fees for boating services

New watercraft service fee increases went into effect Dec. 11. The fee increases were incorporated into the boating bill recently passed by the S.C. General Assembly. The revenue generated from the fee increase will help cover S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administrative costs of forms, decals and other operation expenses.

Cuban tourism surges as rest of Caribbean stalls

While the communist-controlled island suffered three devastating hurricanes, key tourist sites were largely spared. HIV/AIDS Update - PEPFAR-related tentative approval of generic efavirenz

You are receiving this message as a subscriber to the FDA HIV/AIDS electronic list serve. The purpose of the list serve is to relay important information about HIV/AIDS-related products and issues, including product approvals, significant labeling changes, safety warnings, notices of upcoming public meetings and alerts to proposed regulatory guidances for comment.

Please do not reply to this message.

On December 12, 2008, FDA granted tentative approval for efavirenz 100 mg scored tablets, indicated in combination with other antiretrovirals for the treatment of HIV-1 infection, facilitating pediatric treatment.  The product is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma Limited, Hyberdad, India.

Efavirenz is an antivral agent in the Non-nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NNRTI) class.

"Tentative approval" means that FDA has concluded that a drug product meets all required quality, safety and efficacy standards, but is not eligible for marketing in the U.S. because of existing patents and/or exclusivity rights. However, tentative approval does make the product eligible for purchase outside the United States under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) .

The application was reviewed under expedited review provisions developed by FDA for the PEPFAR program

This tentative approval is a generic version of Sustiva, which is a product of Bristol Myers-Squibb, and is subject to existing patent protection. Effective patent dates can be found in the agency's publication titled Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations, also known as the "Orange Book"

As with all generic applications, FDA conducts an on-site inspection of each manufacturing facility, and of the facilities performing the bioequivalence studies, to evaluate the ability of the manufacturer to produce a quality product and to assess the quality of the bioequivalence data supporting the application prior to granting approval or tentative approval to these applications.

A list of all Approved and Tentatively Approved Antiretrovirals in Association with the President's Emergency Plan is available on the FDA website.
