Hi everyone,
As fierce fighting continues in the streets of Gaza, President-elect Barack Obama broke his silence today about the Israeli attacks. He said: "the loss of civilian life in Gaza and Israel is a source of deep concern for me," but did not elaborate. The question, with inauguration two weeks away, is whether there will be a shift, however subtle, in U.S. policy toward Israel. Chip Reid begins our coverage tonight.
Mark Phillips continues our coverage with a report from the frontlines in this battle. Today, Israeli forces attacked a school operated by the U.N., where hundreds of Palestinians had taken refuge. At least 30 people were killed. Israel claims Hamas militants had fired first. We'll have the latest.
Back home, it's a landmark day on Capitol Hill. It's the swearing in day for members of the 111th Congress. But, as Wyatt Andrews reports, two Senate seats are still vacant. So, what's going on with the appointment of Illinois' Roland Burris … and the disputed election in Minnesota? Jeff Greenfield will join us for some analysis.
In just a little more than a month, all U.S. television goes digital. The government promised to help pay for people who didn't have cable. But as Bill Whitaker finds, that government program has run out of cash … and that could leave millions will be left without a TV signal.

DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX GOVERNMENT COUPON PROGRAM The government's $1.34 billion coupon program for digital converter boxes ran out of money on Sunday. Anybody requesting a $40 coupon to offset the cost of buying a converter box for digital TV will now be placed on a waiting list, says Meredith Baker, acting head of the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration. We’ll tell you how long you may have to wait and what you can do in the meantime.
LIVE FROM THE CONSUMER ELECTRONIC SHOW - For 40 years, the Consumer Electronics Show has brought out the latest in whiz-bang technology to show the public. CBS news science and technology correspondent Daniel Sieberg and CNET spokesperson Natalie Del Conte will join us live from The Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, to show the latest and greatest electronics that are this year’s big fad.
THE SEARCH FOR ADAM HERRMAN…WAS HIS FAMILY INVOLVED?A Kansas couple who failed to report their son's disappearance nearly a decade ago are considered "people of interest" in the case as authorities expand their search nationwide. Butler County, Kansas, Sheriff Craig Murphy is leading the search for Adam Herrman, who was 11 when he disappeared in 1999 from a mobile home park in Towanda where he lived with Doug and Valerie Herrman. Adam had been in foster care and was adopted by the Herrmans when he was 2 1/2 years old - he would now be 21 years old. We’ll speak to Murphy about the events leading up to the investigation and bring you the latest on the boy’s whereabouts.
