Braves prospect hits 3 homers in game
Tommy Hanson pitched five strong innings for his fourth win in the Arizona Fall League, but was overshadowed by another Braves prospect's Ruthian hitting display. Marietta native Tyler Flowers hit three home runs to drive in seven runs for the Mesa Solar Sox in a 16-4 win against the Surprise Rafters on Wednesday at HoHoKam Stadium.

Grady Jackson awaiting word on appeal of suspension
The Falcons' defensive tackle Grady Jackson, who is appealing a four-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's steroids policy, doesn't know when his hearing will be scheduled. Jackson can keep playing until his appeal is heard and a decision is rendered.

Setback for Thrashers goalie Lehtonen
The Thrashers don't expect Kari Lehtonen to play in Friday's home game against Carolina or Sunday's game at Philadelphia. Lehtonen missed practice Wednesday after re-injuring his back on Tuesday.

 Hawks lose 1-point thriller to Celtics
Paul Pierce's 20-footer from the wing with half of a second to play gave the Celtics a 103-102 victory in a thriller, offsetting a 3-pointer from the corner by Marvin Williams that lifted the Hawks to a 102-101 lead with 7.4 seconds to play.

No senior PGA tour event for Atlanta
