The warning is in effect for all of north Georgia as far south as Columbus, and it marks the second straight overnight freeze for many north Georgians.

City officials believe the plans - which could be in place by January- will result in less driving by workers, which improves air quality and reduces the energy and water used in city buildings.

Freshman arrested in love triangle fracas
The unidentified Mill Creek High School freshman was arrested recently for allegedly plotting to kill a boy competing for his girlfriend's affection. He was charged with disorderly conduct and disruption of public schools. He also has been suspended from school.

Zoo Atlanta's pregnant elephant dies
The zoo's veterinary team, along with the Department of Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia, will perform a necropsy on Dottie, the expecting African elephant, died late Monday of unknown causes at age 26.

'Abandoned' boy coming back from Nebraska
The 12-year-old Smyrna boy whose mother took him to Nebraska to find help for behavioral problems should be back in Georgia today - the same day a custody hearing may determine whether the boy rejoins his family or becomes a foster child.

916 new jobs coming to Peachtree City, Duluth
NCR, which makes ATMs and self-checkout machines, says the expansion will increase its Georgia work force more than 50 percent over 26 months. The news comes at a time when unemployment in metro Atlanta is up significantly.

2 charged in dogfighting ring
In Canton, Cherokee County deputies detained Randall Thaxton, 44, after a morning raid Roughly 30 miles north, Gilmer County officials arrested Ray Beavers, of Ellijay, for his reported involvement in the same dogfighting ring. Investigators say the continuing, aggressive statewide crackdown is only just beginning.

Early voters wait 2-3 hours
Early voting wait times at polls across metro Atlanta improved slightly on Tuesday - hovering at about two or three hours in some locations - compared to four to eight hours at problem spots on Monday.
