Start The New Year With Three Men In More Than One Boat Posted: 01 Jan 2009 05:32 AM CST After their two previous outings Griff Rhys-Jones, Dara O Briain and Rory McGrath return for a third one. Having previously recreated the famous journey of Victorian author Jerome K Jerome, and come perilously close to trading blows over Griff’s prized yacht. 2009 sees the trio let loose on a variety of vessels in Rory’s home county of Cornwall. Setting off from Plymouth with a plan to make it all the way to the Isles of Scilly, the three men are hampered by the fact that Rory is in charge of getting the boat, a subject he unfortunately knows nothing about. When their first vessel nearly kills them they are forced to beg, borrow and steal boats for the rest of the journey. En route they manage to crash into one harbour, charm their way on board a round the world racing yacht, do their bit for lobster repopulation, lend their voices to an amateur production of Pirates of Penzance and, true to form, indulge their competitive spirit (with a little help from an Olympic gold medal winner). BBC 2 - Three Men in More Than one Boat, 9pm. Related Posts |

Football Transfer Rumour Round-Up, 1.1.09 Posted: 31 Dec 2008 11:20 PM CST The Daily Dust brings you a one-stop daily round-up of the best and most craptastic rumours flying around the papers and net. And put pics of Jari Litmanen on them for no reason. Manchester City boss Mark Hughes insists the cash-rich club will not pay over the odds for players in the transfer window. The Daily Dust Says: Riiiight. Those world class players will be lining up to fight relegation. Portsmouth have turned down a combined £30m bid from Tottenham for defender Glen Johnson and strikers Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe. (The Guardian) The Daily Dust Says: Another right back at Spurs would put Corluka at center half, with Alan Hutton ruled out with Anderton’s Disease. Crouch, though, is just what the doctor ordered for Tottenham. Spurs have had a bid of £9m rejected for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing, but will return with a bigger offer by the end of the week. They also want Steven Finnan. (Daily Express) The Daily Dust Says: If a club makes bids for the same player through 3 or 4 managers, what does that say about who controls the transfers? And Steve Finnan? Seriously? Arsenal will bid £12m to sign Everton’s Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta as a stand-in for the injured Cesc Fabregas, who is out for the next four months. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger considered making another offer for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, after failing with a £15m bid in the summer, but feels Arteta is a more realistic target. (The Sun) The Daily Dust Says: Can’t ever see Everton letting Arteta go without a massive fee, certainly larger than 12m, but while he and Alonso are quality players it’s obvious that Wenger still has no intention of going out to sign big name stars - for better or worse. Everton manager David Moyes could be tempted to cash in on Arteta to fund a swoop for CSKA striker Wagner Love. (The Sun) The Daily Dust Says: That makes no sense. Bloody Sun! Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin is prepared to take a pay cut from his current wages of £90,000-a-week to clinch a £12m move to Arsenal. (Daily Mirror) The Daily Dust Says: Footballer takes paycut to move to Arsenal instead of Spurs? And for almost half the asking price? Erm, probably not. Related Posts |
