Quote Of The Day

"I just read this great science fiction story. It's about how machines take control of humans and turn them into zombie slaves! . . . HEY! What time is it?? My TV show is on!"

- Bill Watterson, author of the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes

Tonight On The CBS Evening News

Here’s an early look at one of the stories we are working on for tonight’s broadcast from Anchor and Managing Editor, Katie Couric

Hi everyone. I hope you had a great weekend.
The White House says Congress has sent them a multi-billion dollar plan to save the country's auto industry. But it's not all the manufacturers had hoped for - and it could have plenty of strings attached. Sharyl Attkisson has the very latest.

Meanwhile, workers at a Chicago factory say they need a bailout, too. Now in the fourth day of a sit-in, they were laid off last week, with little notice and no benefits. Dean Reynolds has that story, while Ben Tracy reports on even more economic turmoil in the Windy City, as the media conglomerate Chicago Tribune Corp. filed for bankruptcy protection today.

Call him the King of Coffee…Howard Schultz is the CEO of Starbucks, a company that had soared in recent years, only to come back down to earth, as consumers cut back on luxuries like lattes. I'll show you my exclusive interview with this fascinating man tonight.

At 90 years old, World War II veteran Woody Sanders is in the fight of his life - and it's going all the way to the Supreme Court. Wyatt Andrews has the story of a World War II veteran who’s seeking VA benefits … six decades after he was wounded.

It's no surprise that almost all American teenagers play video games. But would you believe more than half of all adults play them too? Well, they do, only they're not as open about it. Daniel Sieberg explains the phenomenon of closet video-gamers.

See you tonight,
Katie
