BREAKING NEWS

Federal Reserve cuts interest rate half a point

The Federal Reserve has slashed a key interest rate by half a percentage point as it seeks to revive an economy hit by a long list of maladies stemming from the most severe financial crisis in decades.

The central bank on Wednesday reduced its target for the federal funds rate, the interest banks charge on overnight loans, to 1 percent, a low last seen in 2003-2004. The funds rate has not been lower since 1958, when Dwight Eisenhower was president.

Dining Review
We've been here before, says AJC dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman. The burly bartenders, the leggy waitresses, the sexed-up atmosphere. The shallow menu that touts tapas from around the world. The "signature" drinks that mimic every Kool-Aid-flavored cocktail in town. But it seems that, in spite of itself, Eros World Tapas Bar on Monroe Drive may actually offer something more than just a lust-laden lark. Racy, ridiculous, yes. But it's also a darned good tapas restaurant. Read Meridith's review.
